The ASPIRA City College computer support specialists program makes it easy to combine technical aptitude and people skills. Our industry-focused program requires the completion of 62 credits during four semesters and provides students with knowledge and skill the following areas:

  • Installing and configuring applications
  • Working with free-standing and networked desktop computers
  • Installing, configuring, and supporting internal and external networks

  • Monitoring and maintaining computing device requirements

After completing the program, students will have the skills needed to successfully provide entry-level technical assistance and troubleshooting for a wide variety of computer hardware, software, and other information systems. This includes installing, configuring, and maintaining workstations, working with servers and other devices, and addressing connectivity issues. All courses utilize a hands-on approach with modern computer equipment and instructor mentorship to prepare students to earn an Associate in Specialized Technology (AST) Degree.

At the beginning of the program, students will learn about the fundamentals of PC technology, written communication, computer programming, mathematics, and more. Later, coursework includes advanced topics like structures cabling, electronic communications and troubleshooting, database management, advance severs technology, and beyond. Thanks to a hands-on 190-hour career internship, students can start building real-life experience, professionalism, and greater confidence before graduation, making them better positioned for gainful employment after graduation.

When to Get Started

You can start right now. As a student in our AST Degree computer support specialist program, you have three options for completing your degree. These include

Traditional Day Program

Students attend courses for 20 months with classes held on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:0 p.m. This program does not meet during the summer.

Fast-Track Day Program

Get on the fast-track to graduation by completing your degree in just 15 months. Classes are held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with no summer break.

Evening Program

For those who need to work or care for family during the day, the evening program is available Monday through Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The program may be completed in 30 months.

Each program includes semester breaks and holidays throughout the academic calendar.
